We are now three weeks in on a new program Otsego is proud to begin - HELP - Hybrid Education Learning Program. We have hired certified teachers and aides to provide extra in-person support for students.
While we are looking forward to when we can welcome all students back for a full week of in-person days, the district is working to find ways to add face-to-face opportunities until that can happen. HELP is the first way. We have identified students at all levels who could benefit the most from extra in-person instructional days and invited them in for a shortened day, 9:30am-1:30pm. Our Hybrid support employees receive checklists and assignment logs from the student’s teachers as well as areas they need to focus on, and they get that extra help on their off-color days. Blue group students come to HELP on Tuesdays & Fridays and gold group students come on Mondays and Thursdays; they all attend school in person as normal on their color days.
So far, it’s been working really well and we’re seeing success from students. At the high school, hybrid support staff has put up blue and gold stars as students finish assignments and they’re going to need to find more space soon! It is our hope to find ways to expand this offering.
