WIN stands for What I Need. It was implemented at OMS to help students master essential learning targets as well as expose them to new skills. Many times, time is all students need.
Two days a week, students spend a half hour in WIN time. If there is a particular class in which a student is struggling or needs to get caught up on an assignment, they will go to that class. If a student is caught up on work and mastering their essential learning targets, they will take part in an enrichment activity. It provides much-needed time for students to receive additional one-on one or small group assistance to advance their learning; WIN provides them the time and opportunity to work with a teacher and focus on a specific skill.
Enrichment activities have included video creation, painting, knitting, chess, baking, ping pong, corn hole, Rubik's cube strategy and much more! We welcome parents and community members to share their time and talents with our students. If you would like to host an enrichment class, please contact Candace Holmes at firstname.lastname@example.org. It is a two-week commitment that consists of four, half-hour blocks. WIN runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:45-9:15am.
