Peter Burrill received the highest honor in the state this fall as the Michigan Interscholastic Track Coaches Association’s Middle School Coach of the Year for Cross Country.
Varsity cross country coach, Steve Long, nominated him for this honor recognizing that the success of the high school team starts much earlier. “Peter has been a fantastic recruiter for our program and a successful coach. Our middle school program has been Wolverine Conference champions many, many times and his teams are often the largest middle school teams in the conference. However, I believe that the most important thing that Peter shares with his athletes is his passion for the sport. He gets his kids to work hard and motivates them to race to their potential,” Long says.
Burrill and Long started the middle school program more than 20 years ago.
